Instructions
HANDMADE APPLICATION
Sand the wood with #120 grain abrasives, vacuum and tack thoroughly. Apply PRIMOL PLUS by roller (with short hair), brush, metal spatula (preferably for very absorbent or hard woods) or pad (sponge, paper, cloth) taking care to spread the product as evenly as possible. After 10-15 minutes remove excessive oil non absorbed by the wood with a cloth or a polyurethane foam rubber spatula (normally this is not necessary when the oil is applied by metal spatula). Within 20-30 minutes after application, before complete superficial drying, polish with a buffer at low speed, using a green pad, to make even the oil coat. After about 4 hrs, to remove any oil residue leaking out of the joining lines and the wood knots, it is advisable to polish again using a yellow or a white pad. In case of strong colours, leave the wood’s pores opened, apply the product uniformly by pad and omit polishing to avoid colouring damage. 20 - 24 hrs later, apply GREENOL PLUS finish according to the above indications described for PRIMOL PLUS. In case of use of coloured PRIMOL PLUS, it is advisable to add it to GREENOL PLUS in a ratio of 1 -2%.
NOTICE
Agitate well PRIMOL PLUS, especially in its coloured versions, before use!
In any application method used, it is essential that the oils are applied in thin coats, using the recommended quantities. A too abundant coating could cause drying problems, particularly in the parquet joining lines (heads and edges) and the wood knots, where excessive oil could accumulate. At the end of the job the product must be completely absorbed by the wood.
Do not apply at temperatures below +59 °F. Allow the products to reach room temperature before application.
To avoid too rapid drying in summertime, it is advisable to thin the oils by 5-10% with Carver DILUENTE LINOLUX thinner. Do the same when spreading is difficult.
The drying time increases with the increase of the intensity of the colour.
To decrease the drying time it is possible to add the additive SUPERDRY in the ratio of 1 – 2%.
The addition of SUPERDRY generates a colour change towards yellow. Adding too much SUPERDRY could cause adverse effects. Make preliminary tests before using.
Soak used rags and cloths in water immediately after use to prevent spontaneous combustion.
USE AND MAINTENANCE OF OILED WOOD FLOORS
24 hours after the impregnating treatment, the floor can be walked on cautiously. 7 -12 days later, it can undergo the usual wearing and the regular maintenance can start. During this lapse of time, avoid laying rugs or dragging heavy pieces of furniture.
For cleaning and normal maintenance we recommend Carver DETEROL wood soap. Optionally or in combination, to obtain more protection and sheen, you may use Carver DERGOS, water-based cleaner and protective with a low wax content.
For extraordinary maintenance and restoration of deteriorated places, first clean the floor thoroughly with DETEROL (to completely degrease you can use also Carver DETER PARQUET or NET PARQUET), then apply Carver CARSOL reconditioning oil (available in all versions of PRIMOL).
INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION
PRIMOL PLUS can also be applied at industrial level with spreading machines for the production of pre-finished parquet. It is essential to apply thin coats (8-12 g/10 ft² per coat) and to brush the boards or planks with natural fibre (such as tampico or sisal) polishing brushes right after each coating in order to help oil penetrate into the wood and to obtain the best drying. The use of a hot-air tunnel (122-131° F for 100-120 sec), when available, speeds up the drying.
Warning! The oil quantity to be applied and the drying time depend on the wood species. The higher is its absorption capacity , the greater the quantity and the quicker the drying. As a general rule, to obtain a good level finish we recommend overall (through application of several coats) quantities of 60-70 g/10 ft² for porous and very absorbing wood species and of 50-60 g/10 ft² for compact and not very absorbing ones.
Dispose of excess product and empty containers properly.
If the original unopened containers are stored in a cool and dry place, the products will keep for at least 12 month
